The in-home care services provided by our dedicated, professional caregivers make it possible for your loved one to safely remain independent in the comfort of their own home.
It is delivered at home. There are comfortable, positive feelings that all of us associate with being home. When we are not feeling well, most of us ask to go home. When we are feeling well, we enjoy the sanctity of our residence and the joy of being with our loved ones.
Home care serves to keep seniors independent. None of us want to feel dependent on other or helpless. With some assistance, seniors can continue to function as viable members of their household and society while staying in their homes.
Home care prevents or postpones institutionalization. Few patients choose to be placed in a nursing home, unless it’s the only place where they can obtain the 24-hour care that they need.
Home care promotes healing. There is abundant evidence that patients heal more quickly and live longer due to the emotional wellbeing of living in their home.
Home care allows a maximum amount of freedom for the individual. Hospitals and nursing homes offer more regimented, regulated environments. Home care offers a reassuring, individualized setting.
Home care is personalized care. Home care is tailored to the needs of each individual. It is delivered on a one-to-one basis.
Home care involves the individual and the family in the care that is delivered. The patient and their family actively plan and participate in their care and well being.
Home care reduces stress. Unlike most forms of health care which can increase anxiety and stress, home care frequently has the opposite effect.
Home care is provided by passionate people. Employees of Great Oak Senior Care look at their work, not as a job or profession, but as a calling. Our employees are highly trained and dedicated to what they do.
Home care is in many cases, less expensive than other forms of care. The evidence is convincing that, for many services, home care is less expensive than other forms of care. In general, home care costs only one-tenth as much as hospitalization and only one-fourth as much as nursing home placement.
Home care extends life. A study by the U.S. General Accounting Office has established that people receiving home care tend to live longer and have a better quality of life. Home care helps not only add years to life, but “life to years.”
Home care is the preferred form of care, even for individuals who are terminally ill. There is a growing public acceptance and demand for hospice care, which is home care for individuals who are terminally ill. (For more information on hospice care click here.)
To provide seniors non-medical, in-home care in a respectful and loving manner while preserving and enhancing their ability to live independently with dignity. We help seniors to comfortably and safely “age in place” while providing peace of mind for their families.

Dignity and Respect
At Great Oak Senior Care we care for others with the utmost respect and dignity they deserve.
Great Oak Senior Care is devoted to providing the most professional, reliable and friendly caregivers in the industry. Our caregivers provide assistance with activities such as errands, transportation to doctors, medication reminders, housekeeping, laundry, grooming, dressing, bathing and more. All services and schedules are tailored to the needs of the client, and our caregivers are available for hourly, daily, weekly, overnight, 24-hour or live-in assignments.
Our wonderful aides truly have a passion for providing care – and they are OUR employees, thoroughly interviewed, screened and background-checked (state and national), trained and oriented, bonded and insured. We have rigorous hiring practices in which all applicants go through tests and screenings focusing on skills, experience, attitudes and placement into homes. Most importantly, each and every one of our caregivers must be dependable, warm and caring. Many of our staff members have extensive experience caring for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.
Our caregivers are the cream of the crop. They are committed, highly qualified and carefully selected individuals who are dependable and extraordinarily caring of others. In order to ensure this, we look for warm, honest, caring people and then we help them boost their skills to become the best the industry has to offer.
Our caregivers have access to our exclusive Certified Companion Aide (CCA®) and Certified Hospice Companion Aide (CHCA®) programs. The CCA® designation elevates their knowledge and status in the industry and instills in them the highest standards of caregiver professionalism.
The CHCA® specialized training program was designed by a hospice nurse and educates caregivers on death and dying, how to assist patients and hospice nurses with end of life care and prepares them for the emotional consequences of caring for the terminally ill. So, in addition to their previous experience, our caregivers receive continuous training through this one-of-a-kind curriculum, guaranteeing that Great Oak Senior Care’s caregivers remain the bar-setting home care professionals in our community.
No other in-home care company in our area offers such comprehensive training programs. Clients can trust our CCA’s and CHCA’s to perform their duties with professionalism and dedication while they help clients maintain independence and treat them and their loved ones with the dignity and respect that they deserve.

My name is Keith Dahlen and I am the founder and President of Great Oak Senior Care . Great Oak Senior care was established in 2014 after the passing of my dear father, Norman. After an extended illness and hospital stay my dad’s main wish was to return home. His health decline came on suddenly and our family wasn’t aware of options we had to bring him back to the familiarity and comfort of his home. We moved my dad to an excellent transitional care/nursing home but he quickly lost his spirit and passed away.
I started Great Oak Senior Care with my father in my heart as my motivation to improve the quality of life for seniors by offering support and services to families facing the same difficult situation. My father’s wish was to stay in his home and my goal is to make this wish a reality for families and seniors in the Twin Cities Metro area.
I know how hard it was to watch my father’s health deteriorate and I understand the stress that puts on a family. Great Oak Senior Care provides peace of mind to family members in these difficult situations through our personalized quality care plans. Please let us know if Great Oak Senior Care can enrich the life of you or a loved one.
